Beaches of Saint Petersburg

Saint Petersburg is mostly famous for its classical architecture, incredible museums (Hermitage) and city views.

However, the surrounding areas are no less beautiful. Long sandy beaches are the ultimate summer escape for many petersburgers. The most famous beaches are in the north, in the so-called «Resort Area» which starts with Sestroretsk ( 30 min drive from the city) and stretches for many kilometers, along the coast of the Baltic sea.

Komarovo, Repino, Zelenogorsk have lot’s of fancy restaurants and spa hotels which are overbooked in summer and most holidays. The beaches are narrow but swimming can be rather difficult due to the fact that The Gulf of Finland is rather shallow and stony. However it’s a perfect place for relaxing, picnics, sunbathing and breathing fresh air of the sea and pine trees which are growing in abundance.
