Getting Around Saint Petersburg

How do I get around the city on my own?
You can use public transport or taxi.
We have Subway, buses, trams, trolley buses and mini buses called «marshrutka».
Subway is the most efficient type of transportation. We call it Metro so look for blue letter M.

Price
You need to buy a token - price for 2020 is 50 roubles - around 80 cents for one ride and put it in the slot of the turnstile. Unlike many other cities our subway is NOT divided into zones so it doesn’t matter how far you go or how much time you want to spend underground. One token - one ride. You can even explore beautiful historical stations. If you have luggage you will need to buy a token for it as well.
Opening hours
Metro works from 5 30 — 5 40, however if one station has 2 entrances one of them might open a bit later, at 6 30 or 7 00. Most stations close for entrance at 00 30. During summer season night trains might be available. You can check the latest schedule updates at the official metro page.
Pacemakers
You will need to pass metal detector gates so please if you have pacemakers or other medical devices please address the security at the entrance. You might also be asked to show your documents or bags (hardly ever).
Assistance
Passengers with reduced mobility can address metro staff for assistance by phone +7-800-350-11-55 24h. All the stations are also equipped with help contact points, metro maps in Russian and English.
